VOGUE SEPTEMBER ISSUE COVER GIRLS
Vogue Sept 2014
Pulled from BeyondTheRunways.com archives Sept 2014:
It is September 1st. While America celebrates Labor Day, it is also the first official day of the iconic Vogue September issue. Recently, the cover was revealed to be the long-awaited all model ensemble that hasn't occurred for the September issue of American Vogue in ten years. In my last post, I mentioned that Edie, along with Cara, Karlie, and Joan, are my "it girls" right now. To my delight, the latter three are the most important cover girls of the moment.
What's more exciting is that Vogue Italia and Japan also published their own all-model covers for this month to celebrate the magazine's anniversaries in both countries. Vogue Italia, in particular, captured an astounding cast of 50 supermodels from the 90s, 2000s, and 2010s, all shot by Steven Meisel. What a fortune that must have cost to put together! The photos look phenomenal, and these models truly deserve the recognition. Actresses and artists in the entertainment industry can win prestigious awards like the Oscar, Tony, or Grammy, but models hardly receive the same reward. They have all worked so hard in their profession to represent designers in shows, campaigns, and magazine features. It's about time the fashion industry shined a light on them on such a formal occasion, and what better way to do it than the September issue?
Speaking of recognition, when will Vogue celebrate its famous photographers on a cover? I'm still waiting on that day.
